Circuit Canvas Parts License

What this license covers. This license applies to every part whose license is listed as "Circuit Canvas Parts License": the parts made by Circuit Canvas, and copies and modifications of them. It does not apply to parts listed under any other license. Symbols users draw from scratch in the Circuit Canvas symbol editor are shared under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 and are governed by that license alone.

Definitions.

• A part is a schematic symbol or a layout symbol: its artwork and its thumbnail, in original or modified form, in any file format.
• Circuit Canvas means Ohmify AS, which publishes the Circuit Canvas software and service at circuitcanvas.com, and that software and service in every present or future form.
• A diagram is a schematic, layout or project drawn in Circuit Canvas, including every image and file Circuit Canvas exports from it.

Grant. Circuit Canvas is the licensor. Circuit Canvas grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to do with the parts what this license permits, for as long as you follow its restrictions. Everyone who receives a part from you, on its own or in a diagram, receives the same license from Circuit Canvas, and nobody can pass on more than this license gives. If you modify a part and share it, you license your changes on these same terms.

In short. You may use and modify these parts freely, in Circuit Canvas or in any other software, and publish and share what you draw with them, including diagrams of products you make and sell. You may not distribute these parts as part of another software product or service, or use them to build such a product. A diagram that uses these parts must credit Circuit Canvas when it is published. This paragraph is a summary; the sections below are the terms.

You may

• Use the parts to draw diagrams in Circuit Canvas, and publish, share, print and export those diagrams, in any form, for any purpose, including commercial purposes and products you make and sell.
• Use the parts yourself in any other software, including importing them into another electronics design tool, converting them for it, and editing them in a graphics editor.
• Modify the parts to suit your needs, in Circuit Canvas or anywhere else.
• Share the parts, and your modified parts, with others. A modified part stays under this license and keeps its credit to Circuit Canvas.
• Draw your own symbols with the building blocks Circuit Canvas provides in its symbol editor. A symbol you draw is your own work: this license does not cover it, and it is shared under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0.

You may not

• Distribute the parts, in original or modified form, with or as part of another software product or service, or use them to build such a product: bundling them as its library or sample content, hosting them for it, or otherwise making them part of what it offers to its users. This is about the software, not about what you design with it: a diagram of a product you make is yours to publish.
• Remove or alter a part's license or source information, whether in Circuit Canvas or in a file.
• Publish a diagram made with these parts, or share one publicly, without a visible credit to Circuit Canvas.

Attribution. When you publish a diagram made with these parts, or share one publicly, include a visible mention of Circuit Canvas. "Drawn with Circuit Canvas" or a link to circuitcanvas.com is enough, and a credit that Circuit Canvas itself places on an export satisfies this condition. The Circuit Canvas name and logo may be used for this credit and for nothing else; the credit does not imply that Circuit Canvas endorses you or your diagram.

No warranty. Parts are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that a part is accurate, complete or fit for a purpose. You are responsible for checking a part against the component it represents before you rely on it.

No liability. To the extent permitted by law, Circuit Canvas is not liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, arising from the use of a part or of a diagram made with it.

Termination. Your rights under this license end automatically if you break its terms. They are reinstated if you stop the breach within thirty days of learning of it. Termination does not affect the rights of others who received a part from you while you were complying with this license.

Governing law. This license is governed by the law of Norway. Disputes arising from it are heard by the courts of Oslo, Norway.

Other terms. This license does not limit rights you have under applicable law, such as fair use or fair dealing. If any part of this license cannot be enforced, the rest of it still applies.
