Bridge rectifier

Four diodes in one package that turn AC into DC (a full-wave rectifier): AC goes in on the two ~ pins, and DC comes out on + and −. The output drops about 1.4 V and needs a smoothing capacitor to become steady DC. It can also make a circuit work whichever way round a DC supply is connected. Learn more about diodes
