Transistor MOSFET (nMOS)
Schematic symbol
N-channel MOSFET: a voltage-controlled switch. When the gate (G) is a few volts above the source (S), current flows from drain (D) to source. Typically used as a low-side switch, source to ground and load between the supply and the drain. Add a pull-down resistor (e.g. 10 kΩ) from gate to source so it turns off reliably, and pick a logic-level MOSFET when driving it from a 3.3 V or 5 V microcontroller. Learn how transistors work
