Microphone

Schematic symbol

Turns sound into a small electrical signal. The common small electret microphone needs a resistor (a few kΩ) from the positive supply to its + pin to work, and its output is only millivolts, so it needs an amplifier before a microcontroller can read it. The pin connected to the metal case is ground.
