Electromagnet
Schematic symbol
Coil that becomes a magnet when current flows through it, used for locks and for holding or lifting small iron parts. It draws a lot of current, so drive it with a transistor or MOSFET, and always put a diode across it to absorb the voltage spike when it turns off.
