CD4032

Layout symbol

Three serial adders in one chip that add binary numbers one bit at a time instead of all at once. You feed in two numbers bit by bit, least significant bit first, and each adder outputs the sum bit by bit while it remembers the carry between bits; an invert input can flip the sum to its complement. The carry is stored on the rising edge of the clock (the CD4038 is the same chip but uses the falling edge).
