74HC165

8-bit parallel-in, serial-out shift register: A low on PL loads the eight inputs D0–D7 at once; then each rising edge of CP shifts them out one at a time on Q7 (with its inverse on Q̅7). Often used to read many buttons with a few microcontroller pins. CE must be low to shift, and DS lets you chain chips. Same pinout as the 74LS165.
