CD4089
Schematic symbol
Binary rate multiplier that lets through a chosen number of pulses out of every 16 clock pulses, set by a 4-bit binary number. For example, setting it to 13 gives 13 output pulses for every 16 input pulses. Several chips can be chained for finer steps, and it is used for frequency synthesis, digital filtering and numerical control.
