Schematic symbol
8-bit shift register that lets you control 8 outputs using only 3 microcontroller pins: data, clock and latch. Several can be chained through the Q7' output to get 16, 24 or more outputs. OE must be low for the outputs to work, and MR must be high for normal use. Each output can drive an LED through a resistor. Learn more about the 74HC595
